I was eating dinner in silence, my mum looking at me.
“Don’t you want some meat, it’s just the way you like it.” She said with sweet voice.
I looked at the meat.
“No thanks.”
“But you love meat.”
“Not anymore.” I ate in silence the rest of my salad.
The bell rang, and she rushed to the door.
“Yeah?”
I heard a voice in the back.
“Yeah, and you are?”
“Carrie!” The voice entered into the house enough for me to hear it clearly.
God, she was unbelievable.
“Didn’t he tell you I was coming? You must be his mother.” I heard the voice coming closer.
“Oh I love your nails.”
My mother laughed.
“Anthony…”
“Yeah?”I called from the kitchen, bored.
“Carrie is here!” My mom was happy to see that I talked to another human being.
I went to the living room. There she was, blue hair, pink pants and black top.
She waved with her hand.
God. I rolled my eyes, and dragged her by the hand to the stairs in the direction of my bedroom.
“See ya Mrs……” She didn’t have the time to finish her sentence.
I pushed her inside my room.
“What the hell are you doing here?”
She laughed. “Your mom looks nice.”
“Can you answer me?” I was annoyed.
“I told you we’d talk later. Well now is later.” She said like it was the most obvious thing in the world.
“God! You’re unbearable!!”
“Yeah whatever.” She sat on the floor and crossed her legs.
“Tell me everything.”
I sat in front of her.
“C´mon.”
“Well, I’ve already told you, the dreams are just weird and the feelings and memories are so strange.”
“Can you see anything in the dreams that can give us an idea of who the person is you’re dreaming about?”
“It’s like I’m the person. I’ve already told you,” I didn’t want to remember how strange all of this was.
“Yeah, it’s so strange, never seen that before.”
“You’re the expert.” She ignored my sarcasm.
“You’ve been drinking coffee lately. And arguing and even yelling. That’s just strange of you.”
“Sorry?”
“You never drank coffee before,” I was surprised that she knew so much about me. I realized I didn’t know anything about her. Just that she was crazy.
“And you’re not eating meat either. I noticed you’ve been eating salads only,” She said seriously.
My eyes grew like plates.
She looked at my expression of surprise and gave me a evil grin. “I told you, you’re a lost soul. I’ve been watching you.” That sounded so creepy. She just grinned.
“Right,” I looked at the ceiling. Remember you have to breathe.
She smiled again.
“You told me you saw a date.”
“Yeah. From two years ago.”
“What else?”
“I have seen this guy, this strange and pale guy. He’s always in the dreams, having a conversation or just being around there. I even feel things.” I looked at the floor.
“Like what?”
“Like excitement, or it’s like…”
“Tell me” Her eyes found mine and gave a reassuring look.
“I want to touch this guy. I want to be near him. Sometimes I even think I want to go to sleep to see him again.”
“Do you hear voices?”
“No,” I said taking the matter seriously.
She thought for a moment.
“The first thing to do is find out who he is. He could be a past life, maybe a ghost.
“God. I can’t believe it…” I buried my head in my hands.
“It’s okay,” she looked at me with her bright eyes. “We’ll find it out.”
“Now you need to sleep.” She said and stood up.
I arched an eyebrow.
“As long as you sleep more, more information.” she winked at me and left the room.
